This agreement together with any amendments, additional terms and rules and policies constitute the agreement between you and The Power of One. The Service
The Power of One provides digital recordings of theme music and other associated products that you may download in accordance with the terms set out in the Agreement. The Site allows you to listen to audio clips and obtain downloads of sound recordings and other related materials. These terms and conditions may be amended at any time by The Power of One.
Limitations of Usage & Copyright
This service is for personal use only. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, rent, lease, broadcast, download, transmit, distribute or otherwise disseminate any content contained on the Site except for your own personal, non commercial use. Termination
The Power of One reserves the right to alter or amend the Terms and Conditions of The Power of One program, or to terminate the entire program at any time and so gives no warranty as to the continuing availability of the program. CARD PURCHASE
By participating in The Power of One Affinity Program the One card holder will agree to the following terms and conditions.
  • The Power of One Card holder is any person aged 18 years or over.
  • You may obtain a Power of One Card and membership number in one of two ways.
    1. Applying at one of the Participating Affiliate stores.
    2. Applying online at www.The-Powerofone.com
  • If you apply in store, you will receive a permanent membership card
  • If you apply online you will immediately be able to print you permanent membership card.
  • Regardless of how you join, you are required to complete and submit an application form, either online or in store. Until such completed application forms are received you will not be registered with The-Power of One Group.
  • Card membership is open to Corporations, partnerships, trusts and other entities who believe in the mission of The Power of One
  • The Power of One Card is valid for one year from the date of Purchase.
  • Only one person can use a single card and that card will be enrolled in our database. Membership is strictly personal. In case of misuse, The One Power of Card membership will be cancelled.
  • The Power of One Cards are not transferrable, and are not redeemable for cash.
  • By applying for membership, individuals authorize The Power of One to use any stored data relating to their membership for its marketing and communications purposes.
  • Members should always present their membership cards at the time of purchase with a valid and official ID with a photo
Active Membership
  • If you lose your Power of One Card there is no replacement. You will have to buy another card for $1.00.
Returns and Refunds
  • There are no returns or refunds of The Power of One Card.
Privacy

EXCHANGES
We do not offer direct exchanges. There is no restock fee & we pay return shipping. We ask customers to place a new order and return the unwanted items separately. When returning items:
  • Place a new order for the items you want. Please try to use the same credit card billing name.
  • Keep the new order number handy.
  • Have your old order number ready.
  • Complete the return request form found at top of this page.
  • Requesting a Return Authorization (RA) for the full or partial order only takes a minute.
  • In one business day or less (usually much less), we will send you and email with your RA number and an electronic return shipping label.

The Melvin Van Peebles Foundation

Through this foundation, Mr. Van Peebles is committed to improving the lives of and opportunities for disadvantaged youth of the African Diaspora. The Foundation offers scholarships and grants annually in any field of study but focuses on promoting excellence in the hard sciences and business. For the past four years the Foundation has supported local Harlem schools children in grades K-3.

Opus 118 is a nonprofit community music school serving the students of the Harlem area by providing low-cost, high-quality instruction in violin, viola, cello, guitar, and piano, while partnering with local organizations to promote education and arts appreciation throughout New York City. Understanding that great musicians come from a variety of backgrounds, we accept all students regardless of age, financial situation, or previous musical experience. The Theater of the Oppressed
The Theater of the Oppressed. Is an organization that exists in 20 countries and was the brainchild of Brazilian Director Augusto Boal's . Boal developed a technique to mobilize underserved and undereducated communities to rise up against racial and class inequality. The local Harlem chapter fop the Theater of the Oppressed has use of this art form not only to educate but to raise funds to provide for some of the most heart wrenching cases in America. Headed by Jeremiah Kyle Drake who has single handedly transformed lives.

A University of Michigan study of urban areas shows that spending just 10% of your income in your community increases money circulation exponentially, in some cases by as much as $140 million. Imagine what that could mean for Harlem! More jobs, more businesses and a strong vibrant community.

The Power of One will encourage people to think about where their money is going, and commit to spending a proportion of it locally.

In the last year, 40% of local Harlem businesses have closed. When you spend your money at a chain store, your money leaves the neighborhood, but when you spend with a local business, the money is reinvested in your community--where you work, live, go to school--creating pride of place, economic strength, resilience and independence.

The Power of One has been able to garner interest from prominent Harlem residents, such as Actress, Director, Producer Tamara Tunie, who will sing the title song composed specifically for The Power of One, by uber-pianist, Georges Francois and from high profile individuals such as, Lisa Cortes, Executive Producer of the movie Precious, Black Enterprise Host of Our World Ed Gordon, Professor of Philosophy at Princeton, Cornell West, Director, Write, Producer, Melvin Van Peebles, Director Warrington Hudlin and others.

According to Marva Allen, owner of the Hue-Man Bookstore and the brainchild behind The Power of One, "It is about how one person acting in concert with like-minded individuals can create positive, powerful and exponential change in one's neighborhood, community and maybe even the world. I can't begin to tell you how many people have volunteered their time and effort to see this program come to light. People want to be part of something positive and progressive."
